Hyer Goods is a brand that sells bags made from leftover leather and fabric offcuts from luxury fashion houses. By upcycling waste, Hyer Goods aims to avoid the energy consumption required for land management, livestock farming, arable farming and the production of fertilisers, whilst at the same time reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
By crafting high-quality leather goods from luxury offcuts, Hyer Goods aims to encourage long-term ownership and help keep valuable materials in circulation for as long as possible. Wherever possible, Hyer Goods seeks to promote repair and resale. The brand’s own ‘Pre-Loved’ programme is also designed to support longer-term ownership. From the brand’s perspective, the most sustainable product is the one that continues to be used. This is all the more true given that leather is durable and develops a beautiful patina over time. Should it ever end up in a landfill, it is an organic material that will biodegrade within a reasonable period of time. Lastly, as long as leather is produced as a by-product of the food industry, it is considered more responsible to use it than to manufacture new materials.
Hyer Goods’ products are characterised by a minimalist aesthetic. Their clean lines convey an urban and contemporary style. The brand firmly believes that sustainability is about both people and the planet. The products are crafted in family-run fabrics in Italy. Production takes place exclusively in small batches, which are subject to strict quality control. In this way, the brand also takes a stand against overproduction and creates limited-edition favourites.
